| NPA INSPECTION |
|
1. A delegation consisting of Ms Kwinana, the Environmental Manager and Dumisani, Chief Audit Officer of NPA duly met with Ben, Tony and Wayne on 25th March 2011 at 09:00. 2. I am pleased to report that I was impressed by the openness of NPA and the manner in which the meeting was conducted. 3. NPA have addressed a number of issues. I am however satisfied that we have been able to satisfactorily respond to all the queries raised. • The concerns expressed by NPA will easily be dealt with. • I wish to thank our Committee Members and also specifically, our loyal club members who have all, over many years, set high standards in compliance with NPA rules and our own rules and requirements. 4. NPA will now present us with a full report with their assessment and requirements for compliance. • We will in turn, have to present an action plan and reply to the report. • It is inevitable that there will be a follow-up inspection to ensure compliance. 5. BRYC and the Committee will attend to three specific items to be dealt with at our next meeting to ensure compliance. 6. A great deal of time was spent with regard to activities on Buffalo River. • When replying to the report from NPA, we were called upon to annex mooring reports to indicate compliance. • It is so that regular mooring reports have always been filed at Committee Meetings of ELHKBMA. • Will you please e-mail to me all mooring reports for the past year. 7. There was however one very negative aspect with regard to the inspection. • At the end of the meeting and when a physical inspection of the premises was conducted, Ms Kwinana expressed her dissatisfaction with the condition of the site surrounding the shed and slipway. • It was pointed out to Ms Kwinana that this fell beyond the authority of BRYC. • She then stated that: “We will have to come to look at this again!” • It is evident that this section of the premises did not find favour with NPA and all of us present were embarrassed by the situation. 8. The irony is that we have addressed the aforementioned issue previously. 9. The parties responsible for the use of the facility has not only done themselves a serious disservice but have placed a question mark on a meeting which has otherwise, gone exceptionally well. • NPA will now come to conduct their own investigation and then call for a meeting. • The carelessness of some of our members can no longer be tolerated. 10. We trust that this matter will be placed on the next ELHKBMA Meeting. 11.
