Buffalo River Revival Race This weekend the Buffalo River Yacht Club is hosting our first offical race of the 2011 Season. Most people are now back from their travels and available again to race. The weather is expected to be perfect for sailing with nice warm weather and a South Westerly in the morning turning to an Easterly, unfortunately the wind isn't expected to pick up to more than 15 knots. Nonetheless, we're expecting a weekend of sun, sea, sailing and satisfaction! There are six yachts currently entered, however a few others may join. White Rose skippered by John Senior Aqua Vita skippered by Tony van der Merwe Catnap skippered by Keith Wilcox Ikwezi skippered by Chris Knot Spartan skippered by Wayne van der Merwe Gypsy skippered by Deon McIntyre The cost to enter the race is R 35-00 per person which includes a braaipack after the race. There no other fees to participate! A breakfast will be served from 8 o'clock and a skipper's briefing will start at 9 o'clock sharp. The course and handicaps will be explained with the decision of the starting line up. The race will start at the BRYC with a staggered start and all yachts will turn when they cross the transit of the Telkom Tower and the Osner Hotel. The finish line will be back at the BYRC again. After the race we'll have a braai and "refreshments" will be on sale from the bar. You're welcome to bring your own meat and salads however braaipacks will be available from the bar. We urge all members to attend if possible to support the yachts racing and the club in general. Click here to see a wind forecast for the weekend. Hope to see you there. |
